At Plaid Aura, we embrace a rich tradition of winemaking that spans generations. Our Winemaker, Mark Fowler, is a second generation winemaker raised in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California. Our family-owned winery is dedicated to producing exquisite wines that reflect the unique terroir of our local vineyards and the passion of our winemaker.

Planted in 2005 with Clone 358, the Barsotti Vineyard is at 2,800 feet elevation above the historic gold mining town of Placerville in the El Dorado appellation of the Sierra Foothills. The weathered and decomposed granitic soils are similar to those found in Bojalais, France where gamay noir is at home.
Winemaker's Notes:
Fermentation: Native with 40% whole cluster.
Wine was aged in neutral oak barrels for 14 months, alcohol is 13.2% with minimal sulfur used.
The Rucksack Vineyard is at 2,867 feet elevation above the historic gold mining town of Placerville in the El Dorado appellation of the Sierra Foothills. Soils are weathered and decomposed granite. Although not certified organic, the same farming practices were used.
Winemaker's Notes:
